Which tennis racket should I choose?

Choosing the right racket is one of the most important decisions for every player. If you don’t understand the specs you see in the descriptions (such as weight, head size, balance, etc.), don’t worry — we explain everything simply below!

What do the specs of a tennis racket mean?

Weight

Lightweight rackets (330–355 gr): easy to handle, ideal for beginners, women, or players with a history of injuries.

Medium weight (355–370 gr): a balance of power and control, suitable for intermediate players who want stability without sacrificing ease of handling.

Heavy (370 gr+): provides more power but requires experience and proper technique. Recommended for advanced players.

Racket Shape

The shape determines the balance between control and power.

Round: ideal for beginners, as it has a large sweet spot and offers easy handling and stability in shots.

Teardrop: balance of power and control, suitable for intermediate players who have developed basic technique and seek greater ease in handling their racket.

Diamond: delivers maximum power in shots, mainly used by advanced players with good technique and an aggressive playing style.

Balance

Head-light (24–26 cm): the weight is close to the handle. Easier to handle, ideal for beginners or women, as it reduces wrist strain and allows for faster reactions.

Balanced (26.5–27.5 cm): even weight distribution. Offers a good sense of stability and ease of hitting. Ideal for intermediate players seeking a balance between control and power.

Head-heavy (27.5–29 cm): the weight is concentrated near the head for greater power. Preferred by advanced players who base their game on aggressive shots.

Material

Fiberglass: softer and more elastic material, offers comfort and forgiveness on mistakes. Ideal for beginners and players who prioritize control.

Carbon Fiber: harder and more durable material, providing increased power and precision. Suitable for intermediate and advanced players.

Carbon 3K / 12K / 18K: the higher the number (K), the stiffer and more stable the material. “K” represents the layers of carbon fiber. Preferred by competitive and professional players.
